The reception was opened by H.E. Jana Reinišová, Ambassador of the Czech Republic in The Hague followed by Vladimíra van Aarle, chairperson of the CDCC who summarized the past five years of the CDCC’s existence and thanked Mrs. Reinišová for her support. The main part of the official programme was dedicated to a presentation of a newly published book The Amazing Women from the Heart of Europe (in the Czech original: Velké ženy z malé země). Kateřina Velíšková, Executive Director of the CDCC interviewed the author of the book, Renata Mrázová. The book offers 33 stories of great Czech women who are or were very successful and impactful in their fields, stretching from a Czech queen, through a famous cook, a writer, Czech first president’s wife, a car racer, sport women, scientists to artists and business women. “It is amazing to read these wonderful stories. Each of them is so different but they all have something in common. All these women achieved a lot regardless sometimes very unfavourable conditions which they had to face. They were highly determined, often had to fight hard and never gave up on achieving their dreams,” commented Kateřina Velíšková.
